Recipes Diet is a personal recipe blog run by an individual based in Doha, Qatar. This policy explains what personal information the site collects when you use recipesdiet.com, why it is collected, and what control you have over it.
Because the site is operated from Qatar, personal data is handled in line with Qatar’s Law No. 13 of 2016 on Personal Data Privacy Protection. The supervisory authority for that law is Qatar’s National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA).

What we collect
When you contact us
The contact form asks for your name, email address and message. These submissions are sent to us by email; they are not stored in a database on this website. What you send is used only to reply to you.
When you leave a comment
If you comment on a recipe or article, we store the name, email address and website you enter, along with the content of your comment, your IP address and your browser’s user agent string. The IP address and user agent help detect spam. Your name and comment are shown publicly; your email address is not.
If you have a Gravatar account, an anonymised (hashed) version of your email address is sent to Gravatar so your profile picture can be displayed. Gravatar is operated by Automattic Inc. and has its own privacy policy.
Automatically, when you visit
Our hosting provider records standard server log data: your IP address, the pages you requested, the date and time, your browser and operating system, and the page that referred you. These logs exist to keep the site secure and available.
Embedded content from other websites
Some pages include embedded content, such as videos or social media posts. These behave exactly as if you had visited the other website directly: that site may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction with the embedded content.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. This site uses only cookies that are necessary for it to work:
- WordPress cookies that remember your name and email if you leave a comment, so you do not have to retype them, and a temporary cookie that checks whether your browser accepts cookies.
- Performance cookies set by our caching system so pages load quickly.
We do not currently run advertising networks or third-party analytics on this site. If that changes, this policy will be updated and your consent will be requested before any non-essential cookie is placed on your device.
You can delete or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking them may stop parts of the site from working.
Why we process your data, and your consent
We only collect personal data that you choose to give us, or that is technically necessary to deliver and protect the website:
- To reply to your messages — processed on the basis of your request when you submit the contact form.
- To publish and moderate comments — processed on the basis of the consent you give when you submit a comment.
- To keep the site secure and working — processed because it is necessary to operate the website you asked to view.
Where processing depends on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything done before you withdrew it.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. It is shared only with the services that make this website run:
- Hostinger, our web host, which stores the site and its data.
- Automattic (Gravatar), if you comment and have a Gravatar account.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Where your data is stored
The website is operated from Qatar, but our hosting provider and the services listed above may store or process data on servers located in other countries. Where data leaves Qatar, we take reasonable steps to ensure it remains protected to the standard described in this policy.
How long we keep it
- Contact form messages: kept in our email account for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, then deleted.
- Comments: kept indefinitely so that follow-up replies make sense, unless you ask us to remove them.
- Server logs: retained by our host for a limited period for security purposes.
Your rights
Under Qatari data protection law you have the right to:
- be told what personal data we hold about you and how it is used;
- ask for a copy of that data;
- have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected;
- ask for your data to be erased;
- object to your data being processed, or ask us to stop;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we relied on consent.
To exercise any of these, email hello@recipesdiet.com. We will respond as quickly as we can, and in any case within one month.
If you are not satisfied with how your request was handled, you may raise the matter with Qatar’s National Cyber Security Agency, which supervises personal data protection in Qatar.
Data breaches
If personal data held by this site is lost or exposed in a way that is likely to cause you harm, we will notify you and the competent authority without undue delay.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us their data without the consent of a parent or guardian, contact us and we will delete it.
Nutrition information is not medical advice
The calorie and macronutrient figures published with our recipes are estimates provided for general information. They are not medical or dietetic advice. Speak to a qualified healthcare professional before making significant changes to your diet, particularly if you have a medical condition.
Changes to this policy
If we change how personal data is handled, this page will be updated and the date at the top changed.
